 I used to hear business coaches telling me that if I didn’t invest in a coach, then I’d never be able to sell my coaching with integrity.
And honestly, I used to think it was just SLEAZY SALES CRAP to make me buy their programmes. Because I’d already spent more than $17k and I didn’t have a thing to show for it! But nowadays, as I see how people love to hear about my struggles, and my times of financial hardship, but then get triggered and angry when I talk about creating 5-figure months, high 5-figure launches, 6-figure years, and helping my clients to do the same, I can clearly see why hanging onto money, and not investing, is such a deal breaker. You see, for me, I invested all of that $17000 in times when I didn’t know what I was doing. In programmes that weren’t designed to help me at the beginning stages of my business, even though they implied that they were. And at a point in my journey when I didn’t understand how important it was to get the basics right. And it was only when I made a big investment in me, at the point where it was so crucial to me that I was going to lose my home and/or have to go back to corporate hell, that I finally made an investment in me pay. You see, until that point, my experience of coaching was that it DIDN’T WORK. And so I was trying to sell my own coaching solution WITHOUT the belief that it worked. And I learned, the hard way, that the quickest way to a “NO” is to try and sell something that you don’t believe in. Until I invested in a coach that I truly believed in, rather than investing in things I thought I SHOULD invest in, and at the point where I was so committed to creating results (because it was do or die) that I couldn’t possibly fail, I couldn’t truly believe in anybody’s coaching programmes. Not other peoples and certainly not my own. Even though I really wanted to. But as soon as I made that investment, my whole belief system shifted. Because if I believed in her coaching solution, then I could sure as hell believe in mine. And if I was prepared to invest thousands of dollars to get what I wanted, then others would invest thousands with me to get what they wanted. In fact, just this morning, a brand new client of mine got in touch to say she just signed her first high-end client. Before we’ve even started to work together! Because just the act of investing, even at an incredibly challenging time for her, has shifted her entire perspective. And that, for me, will ALWAYS be the real magic of investing.
