Newly promoted managers are frequently sent on training courses to help them to better understand and adapt to their new responsibilities, but in my 18 years working within and on behalf of organisations, I have seldom seen a newly trained employee implement their new learnings for more than a few weeks. This usually happens because they don't really know how to apply the classroom training to the real world, or because they simply find it too difficult to make it work and, with no ongoing support, that training course quickly becomes a big fat waste of money.
