Are you allowing your past experiences to stop you from getting support in your coaching biz?
I know I did. For some 8 months, after I invested the last of $17,000 in an attempt to get my coaching biz off the ground, and with very little to show for it, I refused to invest in anything else. I was determined to make my money first and then hire a coach when I had clients. Or so I thought. The problem being that I was so desperate to get clients that I was working with anybody and everybody, at a fraction of what my coaching was worth, as I grappled to make some money, any money. And as a result I found myself hurtling into burn out – bouncing between networking meetings and speaking engagements, and making dozens of calls to my connections every single day - while still not making enough money to cover my bills. It was only when I made the decision to quit coaching altogether, and go get a J.O.B., that the enormity of what I was about to do finally hit home. When, sat in an interview, I realised that I could NEVER work for someone else again, I got really effing serious about what I needed. And the answer to that was a high-level coach. And, even though I had over $40k in loan and credit card debt, and mounting arrears on my mortgage, I knew that borrowing money to get out of that hole was simply delaying the inevitable. Whereas, borrowing money to make money, was the only lasting way to truly break the pattern. And, honestly, it was scary as hell. And I went through a whole list of options before finally taking the sickening step of borrowing money from my grandad (I won’t even go into why that was so very hard for me). And I was terrified that what had happened with my coaches in the past (i.e. pitiful results), would happen to me again this time. But I also realised that I was READY to make this work, in a whole different way than I had ever been ready in the past. And I knew, for sure, that the past NEVER defines the future. Unless we let it. So I did it. And boy am I glad that I did. Because just 8 weeks in was the first time I made A mortgage payment in over 6 months. And within just a couple of months, I had enough coming in to set up a debt repayment plan that allowed me to start taking control of my finances. And finally, I was able to truly enjoy my business, my children, and my life.
