Do you ever get frustrated when the people around you try to rubbish your big life goals? I know that I did (and sometimes still do), and I was surprised, when chatting with my kids last night, to discover just how significantly they’re lowering their expectations, thanks to the conditioning of teachers, other family members, schoolyard friends, and the media. I realised that, no matter how determined I am to prove to them that they have no limitations, society is still getting to them sufficiently, that they are choosing to people-please by becoming more “realistic” in their ambitions. And, it reminds me of when I first started out as an entrepreneur, when friends, associates, family members, and even strangers were forever telling me that I’d never make a living as a coach, that no one would ever be willing to pay me to help them, and that I was a fool to quit my “good job” to pursue such an “unrealistic” dream. And, because I listened to them, instead of getting on board with coaches and mentors who could help me to raise my game and think BIG, I chose to believe the naysayers, accepted that I was being too cocky, and made my ambitions more "realistic" to accommodate their limitations, reducing my first year income goal from £80k to £30k Then, to make matters worse, because I was constantly asking “What if they’re right? What if I really can’t make this work? What if I’m really not good enough?” I struggled to attract clients (or continually attracted the wrong ones), struggled to make a sale when I did attract people, and I earned less than £9k in my biz in 2014! Yet, once I decided to give up the struggle, got support, and surrounded myself with people who were living the kind of life, and building the kind of businesses that I aspired to create, my eyes were blown wide open, and I was finally able to believe in my ability to create whatever I wanted. And, because I was able to master my mindset, and truly believe in my awesome potential, I was able to set hugely ambitious goals. That in turn empowered me to nail my messaging, increase my visibility, attract and provide huge value to hundreds of women, and develop my sales process. All of which lead me to catapult my earnings to £72k in just 6 months. And I don’t say that to brag. I say it to show you what is possible when you are open to “unrealistic” thinking and beliefs, when you give up trying to keep everyone else happy, and when you take the right actions for yourself and your business.
