It’s funny, I’m always polling my audience and asking for feedback, and these are the two things I hear that coaches want more than anything else.
And it seems such a crazy contradiction. I mean, you quit your job and started a coaching business for exactly that reason, right? You wanted to change the world (or at least your clients lives) and you wanted the freedom of making a living while doing what you love! So what went wrong? Oh, I know… You didn’t realise you were gonna have to be a marketeer, a sales woman, and a technical genius. You got all caught up in a bewildering amount of conflicting advice about what it takes to build an audience, book calls, and convert clients. You wound yourself up into a frenzy of “what will people think of me?”, “what if I’m too expensive?”, and “what if I never get another client?” And POOF!!! Before you know it, you’re playing the small game. Giving into your fears, running around in circles trying to be everywhere (there goes your freedom), and attracting all the wrong prospects, who can’t afford you or who endlessly self-sabotage (and there goes your impact). So what can you do about it? Well, most do what the great Tony Robbins refers to as a CRAZY 8… have you heard of it? It’s where you bounce between two crazy ends of the same spectrum to keep yourself feeling like you’re both struggling (I’m a victim, I’m struggling, I need support) and achieving (today is the day, this is my time, I don’t need anybody). Are you still with me? The problem with both of these extremes is that neither one of them actually puts you in the right headspace to succeed. When you’re stuck in struggle you refuse to see a way forward, you reach out for help with no intention of getting it (I receive so many emails from people saying “please help me, I have no money to work with you, but…”), and you probably spend a lot of time stressing and eating chocolate. At the other end of the spectrum, when you’re in, what I like to call, Superhero mode, you work your mindset, you create like crazy and you make an offer or ten. But, actually, you’re in such an “unstoppable” mood, that you don’t let things like strategy worry you. You just take a scattergun approach, throw things at the wall, and hope that something sticks. And, because you can’t hold either of these extremes for any length of time, you find yourself leaping back and forth between the two, with no focus into creating a sustainable coaching business. You know, like the kind that creates IMPACT and FREEDOM? Like you said you wanted? Like the whole reason that you quit your job and started a coaching business in the first place… So, what’s the alternative? Well, a step back and a proper assessment of what you need to create IMPACT and FREEDOM. And that really is VERY simple… *CONSISTENT CLIENTS & INCOME* And how do you create that WITHOUT jeopardising your FREEDOM? *LOW EFFORT/HIGH IMPACT METHODS FOR CREATING CONSISTENT CLIENTS & INCOME* WOW! What a mind boggler (said, no person ever). So now, with some perspective, you can simply ask… “Have I mastered low effort/high impact methods for creating consistent clients and income?” If the answer is “Yes” then get busy implementing (and drop everything else). And, if the answer is no, ask… “What’s the quickest way I can master those methods and create consistent clients and income?” And hey, if you decide that the quickest way is to work with me, then grab a [no cost] Coach On Fire Strategy Session, and let’s find out what you’ll need to go from frantic underachieving entrepreneur to unruffled expert CEO.
