ARE YOU WORKING YOUR BACKSIDE OFF TRYING TO GET COACHING CLIENTS AND COMING UP EMPTY?
I used to work a minimum of 10 hours a day, and more often 13 or 14, writing content, attending networking meetings, desperately scouring Facebook for engaging content, tweaking my website, reaching out to suspected prospects, speaking to people who blatantly weren't interested in my services, and basically driving myself crazy.
Every single day that I didn't get a client (which was the vast majority of days) saw me chasing my kids away when they came in wanting to share their school stories.
"I don't have time", I'd tell them. "I need to get clients."
After about an hour I'd realise I was fighting a losing battle, trying to shoo them away, so I'd close my laptop, feeling harrassed and frustrated, to go and cook them some dinner; all the while checking emails and responding to Facebook comments on my mobile.
With dinner made, I'd grab myself a slice of toast and sit back down at my laptop to work on my latest offer or figure out who I should reach out to next.
The evening would continue in a similar vein, with the kids seeking attention that I wanted to give but I simply didn't feel I could spare the time.
At 9pm I'd chase them up to bed and, of course, without me there to make it happen they'd dawdle around, coming up and down the stairs with one issue or another; adding to the total loss of control that had become my way of life.
And somewhere around 1 or 2am I'd finally give up and crawl into bed exhausted, disappointed and afraid that I'd never make it as a coach.
The fact is, that not one of those many hours and activities was conducive to getting me clients. Especially not the kind that I wanted to work with.
And, when it finally came down to admitting that, it became blatantly obvious what I needed to do.
It's now almost a year since I was spending my life like that. And these days, my focus is completely different.
And much simpler.
Because, in the last 10 months, I've learned to master just a few core principles...
1. POWERFUL MESSAGING that compels my PERFECT CLIENTS to READ my posts and emails, FEEL and resonate with the emotion in my story, and ACT on my offers to sign up, book calls and join programmes.
2. HIGH VISIBILITY that keeps me in front of my PERFECT CLIENTS on a daily basis, so that they can't miss me, and develop that coveted KNOW, LIKE & TRUST factor that makes them feel like I'm already a trusted friend and adviser, by the time they get on a call with me.
3. Booking and leading POWERFUL SALES CALLS that EMPOWER my PERFECT CLIENTS to feel amazing about INVESTING IN THEMSELVES, and their coaching businesses, without ever feeling manipulated or pushed.
And, it is by doing these three things, exceedingly well, that I have been able to fiercely attract awesome clients, who pay $6000 each for my business transforming services (instead of the single $200 sessions I used to sell, which rarely transformed anyone or anything, and kept me stuck in struggle).
And, it is by doing these three things, exceedingly well, that I have been able to halve the number of hours I work in my coaching business, while taking plenty of time out for my children, my friends, my partner, and myself.
And, it is by doing these three things, exceedingly well, that I have created 5 times more coaching revenue in the last 6 months, than I made in the whole of 2015.
